Rules and policies

Rules and policies are in place to make sure your child remains safe and well at school.

Visit the NSW Department of Education’s policy library for all current operational policies.

Our school uses the department's School Community Charter to ensure all of our communication is collaborative and respectful.

Attendance and absences

Students must attend school regularly so they can achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options.

In NSW, all children from the age of 6 are legally required to attend school or be registered for home schooling through the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). All students must complete Year 10, or its equivalent and remain in school, employment or training until they turn 17.

For more information about compulsory school attendance, visit:

School frameworks (school rules)

As well as following the department’s operational policies, we have developed frameworks for our students in line with our school’s values and commitments.

CSPS Wellbeing - Behaviour Support and Management

Cronulla South Public School embraces a collective responsibility for Wellbeing and aims to establish a positive Learning Culture. It recognises that wellbeing is central to student learning success. Guided by the ethos that every child is known, valued, and cared for, the school seeks to implement evidence-informed practices to empower student voice, leadership and agency, as part of a positive climate for learning.

The school is committed to delivering a clear and consistent approach to wellbeing through the implementation of the Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) framework.

Homework at CSPS

Homework allows for practising, extending and consolidating work done in class. It can provide training for students in planning and organising time and can assist in developing a range of skills, such as identifying and using information resources. Additionally, it establishes habits of study, concentration and self-discipline.

Digital devices and online services for students

Digital devices include laptops, tablets, wearable technology (such as smartwatches and headphones) and other devices that can receive, store, process and share digital information and connect to applications (apps), websites and other online services. Online services include digital classrooms, chat and messaging, online games, virtual reality, interactive online learning activities, social media and other online spaces.

Students need to use digital devices and online services in a safe, responsible and respectful manner.

Students may only use digital devices and online services in specific circumstances, such as for an educational purpose, to support student learning, wellbeing and educational outcomes, or as part of a reasonable adjustment to enable students with specific needs to participate in education on the same basis as other students.
